Photo Update Blog

So I haven't been putting many photos on my blog as of late because I don't use my camera because it is a piece of junk. But I just had a thought - sometimes I take pictures with my junky cell phone camera! So, I had a look through them and decided I will put some on here to update ya'll photo-wise on my life.

So. Here are some photos from my phone:

This is a gorgeous/tacky necklace I saw in a window in a shop on the main street in Southampton in the summer. I love it!! It was over $100 though... hence why I simply took a photo of it and didn't actually buy it. It's very Ariel ;)

This is Ebony. I became great friends with Ebony at the cottage in Southampton this summer. She belongs to someone else up there - who knows who it is, but her and I clicked! She would come around every night for pets and cuddles from me, and I would even let her into the cottage. She was very affectionate. The last night we were there I let her sleep in my bed with me - to the extreme dislike of my sisters friend Emily... sorry Emily :( Ebony scared her!!

This photo is to show you all how well Buster gets along with his brother Eric. They are in love! Caught in a sweet embrace :)

This proves how opposite they are from each other, but how well they work together. Yin and Yang!! Also to show how big Eric is - when I got him he fit in my palm.

This is my new haircut. Well - not so brand new anymore, but many of you haven't seen it yet.

Fiona, Emily and I went to see the Pigott brothers play at the Gladstone. We had a pretty fantastic time, and hung out with them afterwards. A very memorable night ;)

Fiona was *sweet* enough to come see Sweet Thing with me at The Supermarket in Kensington. They were AWESOME! We especially loved how kind and gentlemanly they were after the show. The lead singer came up to us and thanked us for being at the very front and having a great time dancing :) We love him!!! Well, not just him - all of them! I want to see them again and again. For those of you who are unaware of Sweet Thing, look them up! They're GREAT.

I went to see Jason Collett AGAIN. This time he came to Waterloo at the Starlight. It was a pretty good show - as per usual, though I had some trouble finding someone to go with me. Thanks to Joe for pulling through and being my date! It was a strange show though... with some crazy girl shouting during the quiet songs....ruined it a bit for us all.
But all was well in the end when Jason signed my cd for me :) He is such a classy gentleman.

Blog feelings

I feel like I really need to update the look of my blog.
It needs to be revamped - redesigned.
I want people to get to my page and think "This blog = Meghan" just by the look of it!

HELP!!!

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Oh my God I thought of something to blog about.

So, I haven't been blogging lately, but something exciting happened today that I can blog about!

For those of you who are fans of Corner Gas, you might recognize the name Fred Ewanuick. For those of you who don't recognize that name, he plays Hank Yarbo on Corner Gas.

So here comes the exciting part. He is filming a pilot for a new show called 'Dan for Mayor' in ... guess where!!!.... KW!!! Woooweee!

So, I was meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon, and thought it might be fun to stake out the restaurant where they were filming. It took a bit of sitting and sipping coffee while staring around at everyone like a crazy person - but guess who I saw. Go ahead - GUESS. You're right - Fred Ewanuick!!! I didn't get to talk to him... he whizzed by to go film so quickly - but I saw him.

Anyways - the super exciting part about this story is that if this show gets picked up, they will be filming it in KW. Cool, no? Maybe Fred and I will become great friends. Or maybe I will just become his stalker. Not sure yet.

I'll keep you posted ;)

Handmade by Betty

Ok, so here is something super awesome.
So - I have decided to name my business 'Betty' and guess what I found in my sewing room?! You know those little fabric labels you can buy at fabric shops that say 'Handmade By ...' and you can pick and choose with the names? WELL. I inherited my Gran's button collection when she died, and in there are a bunch of labels that say "Handmade by Betty" AHHH! So perfect! I can't wait to use them in the new pieces I make. So adorably wonderful.

This gives you an idea - they look like the one in the centre, but they say "Handmade by Betty" Cute, no?

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Ok, here's a blog for ya

So - I have been thinking a lot about what my business name will be - and this is what I came up with...

Betty

why, you wonder? Betty is my late Gran's name. For those of you who don't know - my Gran is my mom's mother - my grandmother :P
Gran died last year and her death had a profound effect on me. Since she has been gone, she enters my dreams at least once a week - she is always with me.
My Gran taught me how to knit - she was a mother to my mom and her sister who both took up sewing with great passion. (she also has a son - my uncle, but he doesn't sew:P) She loved to knit, knitting all the way until she went into the hospital.
I want to name my business 'Betty' to honour my Gran - to keep her textile love alive - and to keep her even closer to me.
It's also just a super cute name - which is important to me as well ;)

Any thoughts anyone?

Bad blogger

I am no good at this blogging thing.

Any thoughts?

One more thing...

I have been meaning to post something about this since last week....

I WANT this guy.

Just watch, and you will understand.

DELICIOUS.

Chats, Grandpa, Farm, Show, Ryan

Belated I know, but what can I say ... I've been busy!
Oh who am I kidding ... I have been LAZY.

SO - report on the chats - they have been caught redhanded LOVING each other! Ha! I knew it would happen ... it was only a matter of time.

Those little cheeky monkeys ....
I also had to put a collar on Eric because I had kicked him way too many times due to his quiet sneakiness. Now I can hear him everywhere he goes!

I clipped Eric's toenails for the first time last week ... holy toenails batman - he freaked out! He practically had a panic attack. I will have to go about it differently in the future ...
He does enjoy being brushed though - that's a good sign.

Eric has taken a liking to climbing up the back of me (or the front, or the side), eventually arriving on my shoulder like a parrot - that is, before I clipped his nails :) It was cute and all - but I got sick of explaining all my cuts.

Though I don't have a photo of it, you'll just have to trust my word on this one - Buster has started bathing Eric. My old fat man is sooooo predictable.

Well - enough about cats - for now anyways.

This past weekend I participated in the Festival of Arts and Crafts in Goderich. I stayed with my Grandpa, which was nice because I had not spent much time with him lately - AND it was free! Imagine that. I didn't realise that I had been missing the farm.

It really is a lovely place.
Anyways - I had some, well, interesting experiences with my Grandpa - let's just say he drives like a Grandpa, and that I will never be getting in a car with him behind the wheel ever again. Frankly I am amazed I am here to tell the tale! Yikes.
He did have some funny stories to tell - though I heard them all twice in the 3 days I was there. Oh, and he is missing a front tooth ... he really does look like a farmer! But he said he would be getting his tooth replaced on Tuesday (today) so that's one thing down.

The show was in a word - interesting, as well. For those of you who have never been, or heard of this show, it is HUGE. It is very well known, and very well attended. This year though, it was more like a show - rather than a sale. I say this because everybody was looking, and not many were buying. The lovely couple in the booth next to me who have been doing the show for 8 years said this is the worst year for sales for them, and that they won't be coming back. Well - at least I know it wasn't just me then! I would like to do it again - just to see if I can use some clever trickery to make my sales better next year ... I can't divulge what that trickery is right now :)

Well I feel like this is going on forever ... I am sure later today I will remember something else I wanted to write about and have to post another blog ... but alas, I will leave you with one statement - and a couple funny photos that are not related to each other at all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN! A QUARTER OF A CENTURY!

Eric the Cat

So yesterday was pretty great - I got two awesome wonderful things that are sure to enrich my life greatly.

The first one was expected - I got a new computer, which was VERY much needed - my old one took about 10 minutes to load Mozilla. SO - my Dad came over and got it all set up for me - thanks SO much to Dad and Ryan for all your generosity and help! Now I can watch videos for the first time on my computer :)

The second surprise was ..... ERIC!

My mom has a friend at work who had this lovely little specimen, and needed to find him a new home. I told my Mom that I wanted a kitten, but I didn't know she would bring him over so soon! The next thing I know my Mom is on her way with my new baby. He is amazing - such a cuddler! This two month old boy loves to sleep on, with, or against people. He has a sweet little mew, and very sharp little claws!

Sarah and I took him out for an adventure today to the local pet health food store where he met some new friends, and I got some advice on kitten food. I wound up choosing a kitten kibble that is local - made in Ontario! It is also human grade food - only the best for my little Eric.

He is named after Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid - my absolute favourite movie of all time. Some other names in the running were: Mew (the name of the cat toy in 'The Christmas Toy'), Weegee (the cat in 'The Christmas Toy'), and Rugby (the tiger in 'The Christmas Toy'). I settled on Eric because Mew would have to be grey, Weegee would have to be a tabby, and Rugby would have to be orange. If you have seen 'The Christmas Toy' you will know what I am talking about. Basically, he just looks like an Eric.

Buster hasn't quite accepted Eric yet - he is a little confused as to why Eric gets different food, and SO much attention. Though he hasn't accepted him yet, I know he will - Buster makes a great mother, and I can't wait until they become kissy kissy!

Multicultural Festival

Today my sister and I went to the Multicultural festival at Victoria Park in Kitchener. What a fun time!

The amount of adorable little singers and dancers on stage was awesome - we especially loved the african dancers and little african singing boy...I think he said his name was... oh shoot I forget. Well it started with a Z anyway...

Sarah got a bubble tea - asked for jellies but got tapioca AND jellies!

We shared this lovely drink from a booth where my friend Marwa was... we don't really know what the drink was exactly but it was delicious. It had lemon, lime, strawberry and blackberry. And when I say it had lemon and lime, I mean they were actually floating in the drink - and there was rind in it as well! Oh it was good. I am going to have to ask Marwa for the recipe... if there is one.

Sarah really wanted one of these really cool wrap dresses that we saw at a ton of booths. They are a pretty ingenious idea actually. They can be worn 5 different ways.... pretty sassy!

I really wanted some corn, but I had no more cash :(

Oh and I saw this girl at the Ten Thousand Villages booth and I SWEAR that I know her. It has been driving me nuts since then, and still is! I just can't pinpoint where I know her from.... don't you hate when that happens?

The martketplace section was interesting.... a lot of different finds! I think I am going to look into getting a booth for next year, because the turnout to this event was amazing - SO many people around. I could make a killing! :P

Before Sarah and I left my apartment I showed her how I put Buster in this funny position on a pillow on my bed - and when I got home at least 5 hours later he was STILL there! Hahaa...

Check it out ... I bought a super cool pair of 'the candi factory' underwear there today...

Sprout Art Show and Fair

I will be a vendor at the upcoming Sprout Art Show and Fair. Please come by if you can!

Should be good I think :)

Deeets:

Sprout Art Show and Fair
Sunday, June 15th 2008 1-5pm
St. Alban's Boys and Girls Club
843 Palmerston Ave, Toronto.

Oh - and my VERY good friend Fiona will be a vendor there as well - another reason to come by!

Likan - the good and the bad

I wouldn't recommend drinking an entire tetra pack of Likan. At least not all to yourself within a span of 4 hours. Though it may taste delicious, it just makes the following day not so much fun.

I was able to make lots of crafts while under its spell that miraculously looked fine the next day. Makes you think, doesn't it?
